Used it for about 3-4 hours and heard a grumbly noise. I was drilling 1/2" holes in aluminum. I switched to low gear and the grumbly noise went away.

even then I'd spend more for a real mill. for the price of the new grizzly(~$3k), that's bridgeport money imho. if you can fit a mini mill, it won't be that much harder to fit a full size. the grizzly will get a lot of stuff done, but harder to maintain precision, surface quality, and taking really light cuts on some things adds time.

One tiny quirk about the pic of the G0727 with the ram converted to verticle. They show a jacobs type chuck attached where it shoulda been a 3/8 endmill because it's R-8. There's little room to drill.There is no way to drill or feed at an angle. The smaller 8689 has a honking MT#3 taper and quill advance feed.

The 758 is a smaller mill compared to the 759. The 759 is basically a 704 with the DRO. I have a machine of the same size and it works very well as long as you stay within it's intended work envelope.
